The Inconvenient Truth of Why Agile Transformations Fail
There’s an inconvenient truth as to why agile transformations overwhelmingly fail.
The solution to it is not that mysterious.
Agile practices and the degree of sophistication to which you implement them require the development and/or presence of values that can support their introduction and sustain their implementation.
Without the prerequisite values in place the desired outcomes (which are entirely reasonable) will not be achieved.
Adoption of agile practices that are not congruent with cultural values is not a pragmatic endeavour.

I’m sorry. 😕 I know that’s inconvenient. But it’s the truth.
Values come first. They’re a reflection of organizational maturity.
Agile practices and the degree of sophistication in which you apply them require a level of maturity that make them contextually appropriate.
A mindset change or pronouncements from the podium that “We are going Agile!” are not sufficient.
What’s needed is a blend of values and APPROPRIATE practices that will be drivers for increased organizational agility and maturity.
But the Values come first. Leadership is responsible for that.
